About Legacy Giving

Leaving a legacy gift is a beautiful and valuable ways to help Variety Alberta continue to support children with disabilities for many years to come. Your legacy gift will support the hundreds of thousands of families in Alberta who have children living with specialized needs.

Children with disabilities or critical health issues often require support throughout their entire lives for equipment and services that are not always covered by the public health system.

Your generous gift will have a lasting impact on the lives of children living with special needs and will help support their safety, developmental needs and continued well-being.

Giving can also reduce your taxes, add to your income, and increase benefits to your estate and its beneficiaries.

There are many different ways you can give:

A Charitable Bequest is a simple and thoughtful way to leave a legacy. Whether it is a set amount or a percentage of your estate, you can make a difference for children with special needs and your estate will receive a reduction in estate taxes.
You can make Variety Alberta the beneficiary of some or all of your Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) or Registered Retirement income Fund (RRIF). The charitable tax receipt will help offset the tax that would otherwise be payable on your final tax return.

By making Variety Alberta the beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy, you will receive a charitable tax receipt for its cash value.

Receive a tax receipt for the gift now while receiving regular income from the trust. Receipts can be used to offset tax otherwise payable on capital gains and/or other income. Upon the trust holder’s passing, the capital reverts to Variety.
