Variety Alberta will support community members and/or school groups with training opportunities on playground equipment designs that benefit the physical and cognitive growth and development of ability diverse children through inclusive play spaces and inclusive play experiences.
Variety Alberta has grown to become a Centre of Excellence in Inclusive Playground Design
Our Model:
- Advocacy/Policy and Legislation: We are working with the various levels of government to influence policy and legislation seeking to incorporate inclusion and barrier free design into law;
- Education and Outreach: We continue to learn about best and promising practices in inclusive and barrier free playground design and partner with international organizations committed to inclusive design in playground builds; and
- Building Inclusive Communities Through Play: With direct and indirect support, we support playground builds and community play spaces and ensure they are designed on universal design principles so no one is excluded from using them.
